Elvis Held This Record for 60 Years. Bieber Just Broke It

Newser — Jenn Gidman

Nearly six decades ago, Elvis Presley won bragging rights to an impressive feat: In 1961, with his Blue Hawaii album, the 26-year-old King became the youngest individual to have seven No. 1 albums on the US charts.

The late legend's record just got smashed, however, at the hands of none other than Justin Bieber. The BBC reports that, with his latest release Changes, the Canadian singer also just claimed his seventh No. 1 album on the Billboard rankings—at age 25.

And it was a squeaker: Per Official Charts, Bieber's 26th birthday is March 1.

The site also notes that all four of the Beatles claimed seven No. 1 albums as a group, and George Harrison was just 25 years, six months old when their Rubber Soul ascended to the top of the Billboard charts as their seventh chart-topping notch.

Still, Bieber's accomplishment is a notable one, and he responded on Twitter to the news. "Grateful," was his simple but gracious post. He also thanked his British fans for propelling him to the top of the UK charts for the first time in almost eight years.
